I was at a friend's wedding last weekend with Felix and we met a friend of a friend from LA who had just gotten back from a month at the Vermont Studio Center. It was good to be able to share in her enthusiam for a place that so supports artists in our work.
I also attended an artist's talk at Lipscomb University last week. Richard Tuttle spoke on his work and being an artist. It was a poetic and complex talk (much like his work). He said "Art is about people more than people are about people". I find this to be true, that art work can point to what it means to be human more than humans can. I look foward to a new space and place to invest in these ideas more.
I leave June 7th, got my tickets and shuttle info booked. Now I just need to get out of my studio funk, hoping this residency can push me out.
