I got an email from the Center this week and thought I'd share a bit from the founder:

Everything is fresh. The new green of the fields is much more intense than further on into the summer when the first crop of hay has already been taken, and its cool 60 – 70 degrees, which in our geography feels warm. In our geography, where we have strong seasons, the spring comes after the long dark winter, which intensifies its wonder. And the wonder of spring induces “a rebirth of wonder” in the studio, and everything seems fresh and possible.

I look forward to a kind of rebirth in the studio. I will leave in 11 days, so here is my to do list in this order:

1) prepare postcards to send while in vermont, address and stamp before leaving

2) prepare rhapsody playlists and sync rhapsody player for long hours of studio music-
playlists to include: motown, sharon jones, beastie boys

3) sync ipod with music (from cds), top of list: ellie and drew's acoustic album, dylan, india arie, arcade fire

4) rig DPC studio with extra lighting with 2 x 4s and clamp lamps so i can get right back into it upon my return (that's me being hopeful)

5) set a date for a "thankquet" in july (investors- tell me when you are away- i'm thinking late july?)

6) pack my supplies, making sure to bring my drawing pencils, paper and mylar (or do i buy that in vermont?)

7) get laptop running full tilt for photo documentation of studio, vermont flags and video making possibilities (do not get distracted by Final Cut Pro)

To do in Vermont, in this order

1) find studio, find groove (generally up early, studio, then breakfast, then studio, then lunch, then walk, then studio, then dinner, then lecture, eek out reading time, sleep)

2) connect with other artists and poets there over dinners

3) spend time in the studio center library

upon return, in this order

1) hug felix!

2) plan thankquet!

Thanks, again, for being a part of this process! Here is a photo tour of the center if you are curious.
